A Gator Never Forgets

Today is the one-year anniversary of one of the most classless acts in collegiate sports.

The annual Florida/Georgia football matchup in Jacksonville (formerly known as the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party) has always been an emotional and heated affair, as one of the nation's greatest rivalries. But Georgia Head Coach Mark Richt lowered the bar of sportsmanship by orchestrating his team's mass taunting of the Gators after scoring the first touchdown in the Bulldogs' 42-30 win.

For his part, Gators Head Coach Urban Meyer has placed a gag order on his players regarding any comments about last year's demonstration, promising to respond on the field instead.

Interestingly enough, Richt has gained recent notoriety with his cameo in the Christian film Facing the Giants, lauding the virtues of honoring God on the playing field. If you ask me, I'd say the role was a reach.

See you Saturday, Georgia ... and bring lots of ice packs.
